Wine Tribe Wednesdays are here
Our Wine Tribe Wednesday events are for anyone and everyone who loves wine, whether you’re a long-time aficionado or just starting to explore it. And, they’re completely FREE, so join us for an hour every fortnight at Pop Brixton to try some FAB wines that you might not have stumbled across otherwise. Signing up is easy – just head to Eventbrite via the links below, and let us know you’ll be coming.
Welcome to the tribe – we’ll see you there.
What’s coming up?
We’ll be regularly updating the schedule below with details of what’s to come, as well as the delicious wines you’ll be able to taste – keep your eyes peeled…
Wednesday 23rd March: Semillon can be S.E.X.Y
Semillon – love it, hate it, or don’t-even-know-about-it: it’s certainly worth talking about. When young, this white Australian specialty might not be much to take notice of – but give it a couple of years in bottle (or even more than a couple) – and boy oh boy, does everything develop.
We’ll be cracking open 6 of our favourite Semillons, from Australia and beyond, at Pop Brixton on Wednesday 23rd March. So whether you’re yet to be introduced to the grape, you’re a long-time lover of it, or you absolutely hate it but want to be convinced otherwise – and we count our chances – come and join us. We’ll see you there.

Wednesday 6th April – Let’s get rid of the ABC phenomenon (#AnythingButChardonnay)
Thank god Aus pulled it together, and now they make quite good Chardonnay…
Who doesn’t love a golden anniversary? This year, it’s been 50 years since Chardonnay first burst onto the Australian scene – and since then it’s become just a bit of a world phenomenon, to say the least. It’s been a rollercoaster ride, through the ups and downs. The early days still torment us and examples of overly oaked, overly worked – big, buttery numbers alongside cheap and cheerful bottles tainted Australia with a tarnished brush.
No other wine has changed quite as much – but through the rises and falls of its popularity, certain styles have always held a place in our hearts. Now, we’re planning to share 6 of our absolute all-time favourites with you. What a birthday celebration, eh?

Wednesday 20th April – The new, new age of Malbec
OK, OK, so we all know that Malbecs from Argentina are great. Everyone and their grandmother loves a good Mendoza Malbec. But when was the last time you tried one from Australia’s Margaret River? Or one from Gimblett Gravels in NZ? (Our helpful tip – if you haven’t yet, here would be the place to start. They’re excellent.)
Pop along to Pop (see what we did there?) on Wednesday 20th April, where we’ll be tasting our way through 6 of our favourite non-South-American-or-French Malbecs, and chatting through the differences that an Antipodean climate makes to these fantastic wines. We’ll see you there!

Wednesday 4th May – S.A.S.S.Y Sauvignons of the New World
Oh, Sauvignon. We owe you so much. New Zealand’s stellar grape, Sauvignon is part of where it all began for us – and this May, in celebration of International Sauvignon Day, we’re pulling the screw caps off over 25 New World Sauvignons…
Whether it is your classic fruity example, your severely aggressive and savoury style or a more aged and developed wine – we’ll have them all… We’ll be at Pop this 4th May between 5:30pm and 6:30pm for a freepour tasting of epic Sauv Blanc proportions. See you there!
