Australian wine region production is triple what it was in 1990 thanks to the huge amount of investment into these regions. They now are now one of the largest New World Wine producing regions. Here at Specialist Cellars we love these Australian wine regions and that’s why we stock them. You can view our range of regions below.

Our Favourite Australian Wine Regions

NEW SOUTH WALES

New South Wales is an Australian wine powerhouse, accounting for almost a third of Australia’s output. The state has 16 wine regions, resulting in a huge amount of diversity in the terroir and climate.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

A behemoth of a state, South Australia is responsible for over 50% of Australia’s wine production. With the first known planting here taking place in 1836, local vintners have had time to truly perfect their art.

TASMANIA

Tasmania is an island lying to the south of the Australian mainland at 42 degrees. Being an island, the Australian state experiences a maritime weather environment.

VICTORIA

Boasting the title of ‘most diverse’ wine region in Australia, Victoria’s vintners know their wine. Despite being the smallest mainland state, Victoria boasts the most wine regions out of all the Australian states.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Australia’s western state, aptly named ‘Western Australia’, spans around a third of the continent. Although, while the state is huge, its grape output is minute, accounting for only 5% of Australia’s output.
